What are the signs of labor?

Signs of labor include regular contractions, changes in the cervix, water breaking, bloody show, and increased vaginal discharge. These signs can indicate that labor is starting, but it’s important to note that every woman’s experience is different. It’s a good idea to talk with your healthcare provider to learn more about what to expect during labor and when to contact them.

what is informed consent?

Informed consent is when you receive education about a proposed medical intervention or treatment. The ideal process would be you having a discussion with your provider about the potential risks, benefits, and any alternatives while giving you time to process the information and ask questions before deciding whether or not to undergo the procedure. Your signature or declination is then required. This process involves you in your care and empowers you to make your own decisions. It is also required by law but due to the unfortunate state of our healthcare system, most healthcare providers do not have time to do this appropriately, leading to uninformed, rushed decisions, and lack of trust.

What's the difference between a midwife and a ob/gyn?

Both midwives and OB/GYNs are medical professionals responsible for the medical care of mom and baby. OB/GYNs are doctors and midwives are most often nurses with two additional years of school involving reproductive care, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I wrote a blog post about this here if you want to learn more about the training of midwives vs OB/GYNs.

What does made for more mean?

Made for More speaks to identity, purpose, and transformation. “Made” highlights intentionality. God designed women with a purpose, including the ability to grow, birth, and nurture life. “For More” reminds us that we are not meant to be limited by fear, cultural expectations, or doubt. It reflects a mindset shift; moving beyond the fear of birth, embracing confidence, and stepping into the fullness of what God designed you for. It encourages you to break free from fear-based narratives around birth, embrace the strength, peace, and confidence that comes with knowledge and faith, trust in your body’s God-given ability to birth, and experience a physical, mental, and spiritual transformation. It extends beyond birth, reminding you that your journey into motherhood (and life itself) is filled with purpose, strength, and divine design.
